All About ME
My name is Adrienne Christian. I’m a Poet & Writer. My articles have been featured in dozens of magazines and literary journals including MS., Bust, Today’s Black Woman, Jolie, PINK, Next Avenue, Prairies Schooner, more.
1. My Poetry
I am the author of two poetry books — Worn (2021, Santa Fe Writers Project) and A Proper Lover (2017, Main Street Rag). Worn is about the role that clothing plays in love stories. And, A Proper Lover is one woman’s quest to find and become a proper lover, in spite of what’s been done to her. You can find them in bookstores, or on my website at www.adriennechristian.com.
2. My Photography
I became a photographer quite by accident. I took a Nature Photography class back in 2015, fully expecting it would only be a hobby. I was shocked when people wanted to buy the very first images I took. My teacher, Rob Renfrow, then explained to me that Writing and Photography are closely linked — both are about the story — and that’s why I was a natural at it.
I specialize in Travel Photography. My work has been exhibited in Texas and Arizona, and published in various magazines and journals.
3. My Education
I have a BA in English/19th Century British Literature from The University of Michigan. I have an MFA in English/Contemporary Poetics from Pacific University. And, I have a PhD in Literature/Creative Writing from The University of Nebraska.
4. My Travels
I’ve traveled to all seven continents, all 50 U.S. states, and 70 of the world’s countries/territories. This is what I want to do with my life — photograph the world, meet the people, eat the food, read the literature, learn the history, and then share those experiences with you.
5. My Substack
I’ll try to post a new article every two weeks. Looking forward to connecting with you!
